Research
Since 2014 I work for the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority [UKAEA] at
its nuclear fusion research division Culham Centre for Fusion Energy [CCFE].
At UKAEA I am mainly working on:
- Development of numerical tools and algorithms for the computation of electromagnetic loads on JET, ITER, MAST-U, DEMO and STEP
- Development of a finite element software for RF near field computation of ICRH antennas in magnetized cold plasmas
- Modelling of faulty scenarios for ITER superconducting magnets (quench evolution, Joule heating, electric arcs)
- Risk assessment and proposal of new designs for improved performance of in-vessel and ex-vessel components
- Participation in JET experimental campaigns as plasma duty officer and high-frequency pellet injector operator
Before joining UKAEA I worked for almost 12 years at the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering [CIMNE].
There, I participated in several European and national projects on:
- Development of numerical models and software tools
- Research on novel finite element formulations
- Bioelectromagnetics
- Electromagnetic compatibility
- Cable design and optimization
- Electromagnetic forming
- Antenna modelling and microwave engineering
Before joining CIMNE I worked as software developer in the private sector.
